Rendering of trumpeter & tundra swans with 2 baby swans resting on mama's back. The swan  in front has a neck collar,band ,that scientists have placed to monitor and helps us understand better the swans. This allows them to trace  the origins of the bird, learn its age and family history and migration flights. Alaska swans travel over 4,000 miles. The collars do not hurt the birds.
